Collections

The collection department collects all property taxes including business personal property. Tax notices are mailed each year the last week in September. Taxes can be paid in person at 462 N. Oates St., 5th floor in Dothan. To pay by mail send payments to: Starla Moss, Revenue Commissioner P.O. Box 6406 Dothan, AL. 36302. Taxes are due October 1 and are delinquent after December 31st. A $30.00 fire fee is included on the tax bill for each residence, mobile home and commercial building outside the City of Dothan. You can make a voluntary contribution to the Alabama Firefighter's Annuity and Benefit by adding $2.00 extra in your tax payment. You may also contribute to the Alabama Association of Rescue Squads, Inc. by adding $3.00 extra in your tax payment.

All accounts become delinquent as of January 1st. Late charges will be added on January 1st with a $5.00 delinquent fee added after January 15th and 1% for every month taxes are delinquent. To prevent property from being advertised in the local paper, your account must be paid by March 15th. No checks will be accepted as of March 1st in our office or online. Only certified funds such as cash, cashier's check, and money orders will be accepted.
